Blue Star Memorial
Blue Star Memorial Highways are highways in the United States that are marked to pay tribute to the U.S. armed forces. Our local Blue Star Memorial is located along Hwy. 190 between Clear Creek and Veteran’s Memorial Blvd. We coordinate with the Killeen Garden Club for workdays and events held at the site.
Debbie Votaw, Paula Boales-Pabis, Ann Laver, and Betty Secrest represented BCGC at the Blue Star Memorial Ceremony in 2024.
Reforest Texas
Our club contributes to Reforest Texas, a program of the Texas Forest Service. We collect spare change each meeting. Our donations are used to plant trees in the National Forests of Texas when trees are damaged due to natural disasters.
Texas Arbor Day
First Friday in November
Texas Arbor Day differs from National Arbor Day (last Friday in April) because of our unique climate. Trees need more time to become established before our hot Texas summers come along.
Hygiene Products for CCISD Homeless Program
Members collected personal hygiene products for the Copperas Cove Independent School District Homeless Program.
Mollie Bersch holds a certificate that shows BCGC donated funds in her name to plant trees.
Paula Boales-Pabis and Ann Laver deliver personal hygiene products to the CCISD Homeless program.
Betty Secrest, Mayela Banks, and Debbie Votaw planted a tree at the 580 Sports Complex in Lampasas to celebrate Texas Arbor Day, 2024.
